Why the Change?

Due to current legislation (SB 25) prohibiting the use of social security numbers as the primary identifier, the campus must replace all of the current Bronco Access Cards, since SSNs are either displayed on the face of the cards or imbedded in the magnetic strip.

With current campus efforts to increase security, it is important to provide this service to the community. Initially, the Bronco Access Card was merely an identification card, but over time its uses have expanded (i.e., building access, debit card, etc.). Departments have invested in access readers, and as such it is imperative that the Bronco Access Cards be encoded or re-encoded correctly and issued in a timely manner.

Once the entire campus community has been re-carded, the campus will have complied with the State’s mandate, SB 25. In addition, the campus will realize the following benefits:

'">> The records presently housed in the campus database will be current and complete. All prior data will be purged, thus allowing computing applications to run more efficiently.
'">> Only those individuals who are a legitimate part of the campus community will have a Bronco Access Card with the new layout and information.
'">> All photos will be current.
