“The API has made meeting other Asian and Pacific Islander students on campus a much easier task. The center provides a lounge that students can stop by between classes to socialize and meet one another. As a freshman, I don’t know many people on campus yet, and through API I’ve meet students who have influenced me to join clubs. Lastly the center has computers that allow quick access to the internet.”

"As a sophomore, I was super reluctant to go into the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center and when I entered the building for the first time I realized I didn’t know any of the people in there. At the front desk was Amir Mertaban who introduced me to Dora Lee. Feeling like I was about to enter the wrong crowd, Amir’s hospitality diverted my thinking to this possibly being my second home. At the time, curiosity led me to a Pilipino cultural workshop that was going on in the midst of things. Over the years, I found myself getting involved with organizations that make a difference. From not knowing anyone, I now have friends from the Muslim Student Association, API Theater Group, and Barkada. I became Culture Chair for Barkada and a brother of Zeta Phi Rho in 2005, and this year I am the APITG President, empowering the voices of our fellow classmates. Looking back I have accomplished so much and it all began by taking my first step into the APISC."

“The APISC provides a safe space to embrace our own culture and our friends. I have met so many people through the APISC and it has provided a place for members in my club to meet and greet each other. I wish everyone on this whole campus can feel the hospitality and friendliness in which the APISC displays.”

“The Asian and Pacific Islander Student Center is one of the best kept secrets of Cal Poly Pomona. It is a treasure and privilege to have this on campus. The resources and services that the helpful staff provides should be utilized by ALL students.”

"My experiance here at the APISC is special because it was the first time I was ever invovled with anything at Cal Poly Pomona. Here at the APISC I felt welcomed and everyone was nice. It was a privilage for me to volunteer here at the APISC and the experiance here was unlike any other."
