SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES AND REQUIREMENTS

 

LFSSA Scholarships are based on available funds.  Award amounts are $300 and will be distributed upon verification of Overall GPA and enrollment at Cal Poly Pomona.

 

To be eligible for the LFSSA Scholarship, applicants must:

Ÿ Be of Chicano/Hispanic/Latino heritage and identity

Ÿ Be a current Cal Poly Pomona student

Ÿ Have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA

Ÿ Write a two (2) page personal statement as described below

 

Personal Statement:

In two (2) pages or fewer (typed, double-spaced), please describe your:

  1. Philosophy on contributing to others,
  2. How you have contributed to the Latina/o community so far, and
  3. How your academic and career goals will allow you to contribute to the Latina/o community in the future.

 

Nestor Ruiz and Family Graduate Scholarship additional requirements

 

One scholarship will be awarded to a student who has been accepted to a graduate/professional program for the next school year (2009-10). If you are applying for the Nestor Ruiz and Family Graduate Scholarship, in addition to the requirements above, you must also attach proof of acceptance/admission into a graduate/professional program to your application in order for it to be considered.

 

 

 

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Tuesday, May 5th, 2009, no later than 4 pm. All applications must be hand-delivered to Marla Franco’s office, bldg. 26 rm. 124, Office of Student Life, Cal Poly Pomona. No exceptions. No faxes will be accepted.

All scholarship applicants will be contacted two weeks after the application deadline regarding the status of their application.
