What are the ages of the children you serve?
During the months of September through June we only serve children ages two through entry into first grade. During the summer we also serve school age children ages six thorugh twelve.

How do I get on the waiting list?
If the program you are interested in is full, your child's name will be placed on a waiting list and as space is available we will contact you.

What is the child to teacher ratio?
For two year old children it is one teacher to six children and for three to five year old children, it is one teacher to eight children.

How and when do I register for your program?
Visit the Children's Center to pick up an enrollment packet; registration is continuous until each program if full to capacity.

How will I know if my child is ready for kindergarten?
Each child is assessed by their teacher twice per school year. Teachers will notify parents of the results and advise them.

Are you accredited?
Yes, the Children's Center is accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

Does my child need to be potty trained to be enrolled?
Children two years old may be partially potty trained (to what extent we will discuss with parents), three to five year old children must be completely potty trained. There are no "Pull Ups" or diapers allowed at the Children's Center.

Do I need to provide a snack for my child?
No, we provide a nutritious morning and afternoon snack as well as lunch for all enrolled children.

What will a typical day for my child look like?
Children have free play during the 7am-8:30am hours, snack is served between 8:30-12:30 also, the School Readiness Program is in session and Lunch are served at noon, 12:30-2:24 is Nap time, 2:45-3:00 is snack time, 3:00-4:00 is Outdoors play or activities, 4:00-6:00 is Indoor activities.

What do you do about biting?
We practice behavior modification by working closely with the parent, child and teacher to redirect the child's behavior. The following actions will take place in the event biting occurs:
- We will talk to the parents of the biter and the child who was bitten.
- If child bites trough the skin twice, the child will be expelled from the Children's Center.
- After three bites, whether or not the bite goes through the skin, the child will be expelled from the Children's Center.

What is your dicipline policy?
The children's Center does not use corporal punishment. Instead, we use redirection, positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior, and natural or logical consequences. Time-outs are only used when it is evident the child needs some time to calm down.

What is your illness policy?
Teachers conduct wellness checks as children are dropped off. Children with runny noses are encouraged to stay home. If a child has a fever the night before the child should not come into school. A child that has fever of 100 degrees will be sent home and has to be fever free for 24 hours (without taking medication to lower fever) before returning to school.

What about special diets, allergies or disabilities?
It is expected that the child's parent or guardian shall communicate the nature of the child's special needs or impairment and any particular information regarding the child's care PRIOR to the child's first day in the program, in writing, for example: and Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP), an Individual Education Plan (IEP) from the Regional Center or Physician's statement on official letterhead stationary signed by the physician.
The Children's Center will accept children with special diets, allergies, or disabilities upon ability to make reasonable accommodation and that it will not cause the Center any undo financial hardship.
A Family Plan meeting will be scheduled with the Parent, Director, Teacher and Education Coordinator to Outline the reasonable accommodations. The Family Plan will be reviewed periodically with the involved participants.

How does the Center celebrate individual children's birthday?
Children may celebrate their birthday at school. Parents should obtain permission and discuss the details of the party with their child's teacher prior to making any arrangements to celebrate in the classroom.

Can Parents visit their children during the day?
Parents are welcome to visit their children whenever they like, the Center has an open-door policy for enrolled parents.
