Established in 1963, Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) of Cal Poly Pomona is a recognized auxiliary organization Of California State Polytechnic University, Pomona that is led, funded and mainly staffed by students. Guided by the core commitments to the promotion of student development and provision of excellent facilities, programs and services, ASI provides for student representation at the campus and California State University system-wide level and offers leadership development through student government, student-led programming, student employment and student involvement in a wide array of Bronco Student Center programs and services, including the Bronco Fitness Center, as well as the Children’s Center. ASI fully supports the enrichment of student life by providing annual funding support for student clubs and organizations, diversity programs, athletic scholarships and academic support programs. Business Services is the apex of financial information for student life on campus though its assistance to student clubs and organizations. Business Services offers consultative services regarding financial information about ASI, the Bronco Student Center, Instructionally Related Activities accounts and club accounts. It provides the necessary financial tools for preparation of club and organization budgets and reports, as well as other financial transactions.
Business Services provides financial workshops for student, faculty and staff groups at no cost upon request. These workshops can be arranged by contacting the Business Services office. Money orders are also available at the front window to both on-campus and off-campus groups and individuals for a fee. Student Government serves as a policy governing board for all ASI programs and services as well as makes decisions on funding support for more than 200 student clubs and organizations, athletics, and other campus wide programs.
All Cal Poly Pomona students are members of Associated Students, Inc. by virtue of their enrollment at the university. Students can become officers in ASI either by appointment or by standing for election to a particular office. The ASI Bronco Events and Activities Team (B.E.A.T.) plans and co-sponsors, in cooperation with student organizations and campus departments, several hundred programs and activities per year for the campus community. Opportunities for service to the community, lectures, films, concerts, and indoor and outdoor recreation are among the events and activities sponsored by B.E.A.T. The student-led team also offers Cal Poly Pomona students the opportunity to instill a sense of community within the student population and to develop their own leadership skills as members or chairpersons of the committees that create and organize the planned events. Recreational Sports offers Cal Poly Pomona students, faculty, staff and alumni of all skill levels and abilities an affordable opportunity for fun, relaxation and competition through non-collegiate level intramural league sports consisting of basketball, flag football, softball, soccer, and volleyball. League participants can establish their own teams within their clubs or organizations to build teamwork and other support.
