About the Leadership Workshop Series
The Student Development and Leadership Institute offer a series of leadership development workshops throughout the academic year. The program is open to all students who wish to enhance their leadership skills. Students who register with the program and wish to receive a certificate of completion from the University have one academic year to complete a 2 option program.
- Program 1 consists of 10 hours of leadership workshops
- Program 2 consists of 20 hours of leadership workshops.
The two options were created to fit the demand of time commitments and interest of students. A certificate of completion will describe how many hours each person has earned. The 20 hour option has more benefits for participants.
Each program provides four different development areas for the participant with specific interests. You can choose to participate in any workshops from any development area but the following provides a helpful guide to choosing the right workshop for you.
- Personal Development workshops are aimed for participants who are taking their first steps in developing their leadership skills and have not been previously involved.
- Organizational Development workshops are aimed at participants who have some involvement or interest in working with organizations.
- Human Relations workshops are aimed at participants who have an interest in learning more about diversity or social change.
- Career Development workshops are aimed at participants who have an interest in exploring their career after Cal Poly Pomona or enhancing their current employment experience.
- Specialty Tracks: These tracks are designed and coordinated by an advisor who works with a specific community. The track is aimed at developing specific skills pertaining to the needs of the community and supplemented by SDLI workshops. For information on track requirements, please contact the SDLI chair, Edwin Romero at leadership@csupomona.edu.
