Assessment

Assessment is key in developing and improving programs. Write an assessment report shortly after the program/event while all is still "fresh" in your mind. Below are questions to ask when assessing a program or event:

  • What is the potential impact of the program?
  • Is this program relevant in the current environment/atmosphere?
  • What are the program objectives? Were they met?
  • Did you meet your goal for the program?
  • Compare the benefit of the program to your department and the Division of Student Affairsmission statements.
  • How will you measure the effectiveness of the program?
  • What impact on students did this program have?

Learning Outcomes assess a program or event, and provide data to support the need for the program. Use Learning Outcomes to show how your program or event has met specific needs of the University Community.

Other tips to remember:

  • K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple & Sweet
  • Don't go overboard!
  • Make non-traditional a tradition; remember that change is always good and inevitable!
