ARCHES was established in 1997 to provide academic support services for students with disabilities at Cal Poly Pomona. ARCHES currently serves 150 students each year and accepts applications from new participants throughout the academic year. Students in the program receive in-depth, comprehensive support services from time of acceptance through graduation.

ARCHES is funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education TRIO Programs. TRIO programs were established to promote educational equity for students who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education; students who are first-generation to attend college, low-income, and/or disabled.

Eligibility Criteria

To participate with ARCHES, students must meet eligibility criteria established by the U.S. Department of Education. Eligible students must be:

» Enrolled or accepted for enrollment at Cal Poly Pomona;

» Registered with Disability Resource Center (DRC) at Cal Poly Pomona

» A U.S. Citizen, National, or Permanent Resident (students with F-1 Visas are not eligible), and

» Have a documented disability (Learning, Psychological, Physical, etc.)

Becoming a Participant

Individuals interested in becoming ARCHES participants may obtain an application from ARCHES or the DRC. After submitting the application, an interview will be scheduled with the Project Director and the Learning Specialist to determine program eligibility and create an individualized plan of ARCHES support services.

ARCHES participants remain part of the program from the time they are accepted through graduation from Cal Poly Pomona.
