Overview

Students with disabilities are encouraged to register with the DRC to facilitate their use of accommodations and support services available through our office. Although students are not required to register with the DRC just because they have a disability, students must register with our office if they plan to use testing accommodations and other services in support of their disability while at Cal Poly Pomona. Depending on the nature of the documented disability, these services may include note-takers, alternate media services for reading, extended time for exams, use of a distraction-free environment for testing, interpreting and real-time captioning services, and access to the technology lab.

I believe I have a qualifying disability. How do I register with the DRC?

Disability documentation for the purpose of providing accommodations must both establish disability and provide adequate information on the functional impact of the disability so that effective accommodations can be identified.  The documentation needs to also be current, within the last 3-5 years and meet the Documentation Standards as outlined below for different disability types.

I think I might have a disability.

Students who suspect that they may have a disability that interferes with their learning may receive referrals to appropriate and qualified professionals in the community who provide a sliding-fee scale for Cal Poly Pomona students.  Students may also be referred to their own health insurance plan, if available.  For a referral to a qualified professional, please contact DRC at 909.869.3333.

If consultation is desired prior to selecting a qualified professional on the referral list, please contact Counseling & Psychological Services at 909.869.3220 for a screening appointment.

If students are receiving financial aid, DRC will coordinate with the Financial Aid Office to verify the need for supplemental funding to cover the costs of dianostic/disability evaluation.

Once disability documentation is obtained, follow the DRC registration process.
