State University Grant Changes
Effective Winter 2008, students receiving outside tuition resources will no longer be receiving State University Grant
.

Beginning Fall Quarter 2008, the disbursement process for State University Grant will undergo a change.  Awards will be disbursed at the tuition amount if enrolled in 7 or more units for all educational levels.  For less than full-time enrollment, see the chart listed under “Receiving Aid” for details.  The disbursement process will take place on a weekly basis in order to capture those students who add units to become full-time.  After the add/drop period, awards will be adjusted based on final enrollment.

ACG/SMART Grant Information
Effective July 1, 2008, the Department of Education released a new requirement for the SMART Grant program.  The guidance indicated that a student must be enrolled in at least one core class in an eligible SMART Grant major in order to receive payment each quarter.

Beginning Spring Quarter 2007, the disbursement process for ACG and SMART Grants will undergo a change.  ACG and SMART Grants will not be disbursed to student accounts until after census. This change will allow for accurate disbursement of funds based on units, GPA and other qualifying criteria.

Information Regarding AB540 Undocumented Students
Students who are not citizens or legal residents of the US are not eligible for State or Federal Financial Aid programs because of their immigration status. However, there are a number for resources available that do not consider the students legal residency in the U.S.

Cal Grant Disbursement Changes
Beginning Spring Quarter 2007, the disbursement process for Cal Grant funds will undergo a change.  Cal Grant funds will only be disbursed to students who are enrolled on a full-time basis after the pre-registration period.  If you are receiving the fee portion of Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B your award will be disbursed if enrolled at 6.1 units or more.  The disbursement process will take place on a weekly basis in order to capture those students who add units to full time.

After the add/drop period had ended, students who are enrolled less than full time will receive their disbursement of Cal Grant funds based on final enrollment.  Please refer to the Units required section of our website to determine eligibility. The process will allow for a decrease in the billing process for students who receive Cal Grant funds in excess of the allowable amount.  This process will continue on a quarterly basis.
