Federal Work Study

 
The Federal Work Study program provides part-time employment to students attending institutions of higher education who need the earnings to help meet their educational costs. The program is also designed to help student gain valuable work experience and to serve the community in community service jobs. Students must complete a "Free Application for Federal Student Aid" (FAFSA) by the March 2 deadline, indicate on the FAFSA that they want Federal Work Study and have calculated financial need. Federal Work Study funds are very limited and not all students who qualify will be awarded. If you would like to be placed on a wait list for work study, complete the Information Update form and have it attention to Lupe Linares from the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships to account for your request. Students get paid once a month for the hours they work and are paid wages ranging from $8.00 to $16.17 an hour, depending on the type of job they obtain.

Effective January 1, 2008 the California Minimum wage will increase to $8.00 per hour.
