LGBT History Month & Beyond…. Fall Quarter 2009 Q-Camp Sunday, Sept. 27, 6-8pm Encinitas Residence Hall, 1st Floor Study Room Q-Camp is an orientation to campus life for new and returning LGBT students and their allies. Both undergraduate and graduate students are invited to join for an evening with other students and Pride Center staff. Co-sponsored with University Housing Services. RSVP Required! 13 Love Stories Film Screening Thursday, Nov. 5, 12-2pm Bronco Student Center, Ursa Major A 13LoveStories.com is a unique multimedia advocacy project that profiles the moving stories of thirteen couples whose lives were profoundly affected by Proposition 8 - the recent California ballot initiative that eliminated the right of same-sex couples to marry. Transgender Day of Remembrance Display Monday, Nov. 16 – Thursday, Nov. 19th University Park The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder in 1998 kicked off the “Remembering Our Dead” web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Every October we honor, educate, and celebrate LGBT History Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about the important roles that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons hold in history. The LGBT History Month committee is a collaborative effort between the Pride Center and students involved on campus.
