The mission of the Pride Center, a department within the Student Affairs Division, is to provide a safe and supportive environment for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, questioning and ally community at Cal Poly Pomona in which students may reach their academic and personal goals. The PrideCenter will meet this challenge by:
· Providing lbgt resources to the entire campus community
· Educating the university community about lesbians, gay males, bisexuals and transgendered persons through programs and activities such as “Safe Zone”, LGBT History Month and National Coming Out Day
· Serving as a resource to lesbians, gay males, bisexuals, and transgendered persons by developing formal links with the community
· Advocating for an environment which eliminates barriers, diminishes prejudice and bigotry and extends a supportive climate to all lgbt students
· Providing representation to campus committees to ensure that the needs of the lgbt community are considered
The PrideCenter is one of five Cultural Centers on campus. The Cultural Centers are committed to the recognition, promotion and support of rich diversity in the campus community. They implement a variety of programs, which enhance cross cultural communication and experiences and a network of support services that address the needs of underrepresented students. Each center is dedicated to promoting the education, celebration and appreciation of a multi-ethnic, multicultural campus community. The PrideCenter is a campus resource that is open and welcoming to all students.
The GOALS of the PrideCenter are to:
