How will I know my chances of being registered for a class when I add myself to the wait list?
When you wait list for a class, the class roster will indicate your position number on the list. This number indicates the number of students ahead of you on the wait list.

How will I know if a seat opens in the class for which I wait listed and I have been added to the class?
You will be notified via your CPP email once you have been registered in the class for which you wait listed.

Can I wait list for a class if I have not met its prerequisite or not enrolled in its corequisite?

You can wait list for a class only if you have met its prerequisite or are enrolled in it.  You cannot wait list for a class if you are not enrolled in its corequisite.

If I have a registration hold, can I wait list for a class?
No. The registration hold applies to the wait list also. You therefore cannot wait list for any class through BroncoDirect while you have a registration hold.

When can I start adding my name to the wait list?
Wait listing is available to students during registration periods, including Add/Drop periods. This means that when registration is closed, wait listing is also closed.

I want to wait list for a different section of a course for which I am already registered. Can I do that?
The system will let you wait list for a different section of a course in which you are already registered. However, because multiple enrollments in the same course are not allowed, you will not be registered in the section you wait listed for if a seat becomes available.

Is there a limit to the number of units for which I can wait list?
Yes. You can register and wait list for a combined total of 16 units only during the regular registration period.  During Add/Drop periods, this limit increases to 20 units.

Will I have to pay for the classes for which I have wait listed?
No. You are only billed for classes in which you have actually registered.

Do units for my wait listed classes count towards full-time status so that my financial aid will be disbursed?

No, they are not counted.  If you are wait listed in one or more courses, the units for these courses are NOT included.  If you are registered less than full-time, your grants will not be disbursed until after you are enrolled in the minimum number of units for full-time status.

Financial aid grants are disbursed to your account 10 days prior to the first day of classes PROVIDED YOU ARE ENROLLED FULL-TIME (Undergraduate and Teaching Credential:  12 or more units; Graduate:  8 or more units).  If you are due a refund, the refund will be mailed directly to you by check or deposited into your bank account if you are signed up for direct deposit.

Loans are disbursed approximately 5 days prior to the first day of classes.  YOU MUST BE ENROLLED AT LEAST HALF-TIME for disbursement of loans (Undergraduate and Teaching Credential: 6-11 units; Graduate: 4-7 units).

The class for which I have wait listed has a time conflict with a class in which I am already registered. Will l get added to the class if a seat becomes available?
No. You will not be registered for a class when there is a time conflict between any class you are already enrolled in and the one for which you have wait listed.

I have been using the Open Seats notification system. Can I continue to use that?
The Open Seats notification system will no longer be available. Wait listing replaces this service.

Will all classes have a wait list?
All classes will have a wait list except for classes that require instructor consent.

If I change my mind about a class for which I have wait listed, can I remove my name from the list?
Yes, you may remove your name from the wait list anytime while registration is going on.

Is there a limit to the number of students a class will have on a wait list?
Yes, and this number varies from class to class.  The minimum number of wait list spaces for each section is equal to the class capacity. Departments or Colleges may increase this number for selected sections.

What is the benefit of wait listing?
One big benefit of wait listing is that you don't have to watch for seats to open in a closed class you want. BroncoDirect will do it for you!

Another benefit of wait listing is that more students can firm up their class schedules prior to the first week of classes.

If I fail to pay when fees are due and I lose my classes because of non-payment, will I get the classes for which I have waitlisted?
No.  If you don't pay when fees are due, your enrollment will be cancelled, including the classes for which you have wait listed.  Additionally, a financial hold will be placed on your record which will prevent you from registering (and wait listing) until your financial hold has been removed.

If the instructor is giving out permission numbers on the first day of class and I am number 1 on the wait list, am I guaranteed a permission number?

No. If an instructor decides to use permission numbers during the add period, your position on the waitlist does NOT guarantee you a permission number nor does it provide for priority of any kind.

I am a graduating senior with a grad check showing I need a particular class to graduate. Will I be the first one to get a permission number from the instructor?
Instructors will continue to have the option of providing permission numbers to students who are allowed to add their class.  A graduating senior with a grad check is advised to show this to the instructor of record to improve their chances of receiving a permission number.

Should I attend the first day if I want to get in a closed class or rely on the wait list?
It is advisable to always attend the first day of the closed class that you want to add.

I was not able to add my name to the waitlist. What are the possible causes for this?

There are several possible reasons to why you were not able to add your name to a wait list—not meeting prerequisites or co-requisites for the class, the wait list capacity of the class has been reached, or you have enrolled and/or waitlisted for the maximum number of units allowed (16 units during early registration and 20 units during add drop).

I was first on the waitlist but my name was passed over. What happened?

The following will prevent the system from registering you into a class:  there is a time conflict between the wait listed class and an enrolled class; you are enrolled in a different section of the same class for which you have wait listed; you are enrolled and/or waitlisted in the maximum units allowed (16 units during early registration and 20 units during add drop).

I am a graduating senior and I am far down on the waitlist for a class I need to graduate? What should I do?

You are strongly advised to speak directly with the instructor and indicate that you are a graduating senior.  If you have received a graduation check, it is a good idea to show your graduation check to the class instructor to show that you need the class to graduate.

I am on the waitlist and I wanted to know if it is ever possible that someone not on the waitlist would get into the class before me.

If a class instructor provided a student a permission number, regardless of whether that student was on the wait list or not, that student would be able to get into the class before you.
