How will I know if there are students waiting to register for my class?
Wait listed students can be viewed from your class roster. In the drop down Enrollment Status box you can select All, Enrolled, Dropped and Waiting. Select “Waiting” to view students on the wait list in priority order. Select “All” to view enrolled, dropped and waiting students in alphabetical order. The “ Waiting” students will have (wait list) after their name and a priority number in the far right column.

If there are students on the wait list and a student is also trying to register for an open seat, which student gets in the class?
The wait list student will get the open seat. The student trying to register will be asked if he/she would like to be placed on the wait list. As seats open, spaces will be filled from the wait list.

Can pre-requisites be checked before a student is added to a wait list?
Yes, pre-requisites are checked before a student is added to the wait list. If the student has completed the pre-requisite or is currently enrolled in the pre-requisite at the time of registration, the student is added to the wait list. Pre-requisites are checked again when a student is moved to a class from the wait list.

I gave a student a permission number that waives prerequisites. Can the student put their name on the waitlist?
Yes, if the student has selected the option to be put on the wait list and entered the permission number that waives the requisite, the student will be placed on the wait list if the class is closed.

How will wait listing and permission numbers work during the add/drop period?
The deans have recommended that the enrollment capacity of classes remain at the same level as during regular registration and that consent not be changed. This will allow wait listing to handle most of the adding during add/drop. Departments will retain the authority to distribute permission numbers that waive prerequisites (and waive enrollment capacity if desired). Instructors will retain the authority to distribute permission numbers that waive enrollment capacity to allow classes to grow from enrollment capacity to room capacity.

On the first day of class, if I am using permission numbers do I have to honor the wait list order?
No, you do not have to honor the wait list order if you decide to use permission numbers during the add period. You will be able to view the wait list from your class roster if wish to take this into consideration.

Could a student put their name on the waitlists for all of the sections for a particular class?
A student can have a combined total of 16 enrolled and wait listed units during the initial registration time period and a combined total of 20 enrolled and waitlisted units during the add/drop time period. It is possible for a student to be on the wait list in 4 or 5 sections of a class, but then the student would not be able to enroll or wait list in any other class.

 |
| |
If the number one person on a waitlist doesn't get in for some reason, are they dropped from the list?
If a student is skipped and not put in the class due to a time conflict or requisite not met, he/she is not dropped from the wait list. The student is notified by email that they were not placed in the class and why. If the limitation that prevented the student from being moved from the wait list to the class is removed and another space opens in the class, the student will be enrolled in the class.

A student is registered for my lecture but not for any labs. How did that happen?
The system will allow a student to be enrolled in the lecture and on the waitlist for the lab, and vice versa, as well as being on waitlists for both lecture and lab. If the student is never moved from the waitlist to an open seat, or is only moved from one waitlist, then the student could end up in a lecture and not a lab or vice versa. Since the Requisite Not Met Program does not check co requisites, it will be necessary to manually check the rosters for such students and administratively drop them.
