Department Overview

SAITS (pronounced "say-its") is responsible for supporting the internal information and technical support needs of the departments of the Division of Student Affairs.  SAITS was created (in 2005) to promote and support the use of information and technology utilizing the CLUSTER model by which SAITS would assist departments with access and use of IT resources and services at the department, division, and university level.  This is achieved through the development of common IT standards and practices which ensure compatibility and functionality within the campus environment and allows for efficient technical support across the division.  Specifically, the department provides for the purchase, provisioning and regular replacement of all personal computers (including laptops) and servers.  The division’s PC Inventory and Equipment Exchange is a program that is tasked with providing PCs to all staff and public work areas and includes the regular replacement of 25% of all PCs within a given fiscal year.  The department is also responsible for the common management of servers and business application systems in order to protect data from intentional or accidental loss through the deployment of common security policies, multiple member support teams and backup procedures.  The department also participates the campus data warehouse groups to  support and assist in information sharing, reporting and exchange.

Online Resources

If you are a staff member within the Division of Student Affairs please use our  "Help Request Form" to send requests to SAITS.  Using this form is the same as calling extension 7186.  When you click "submit" an email is sent immediately and the call is logged by one of our staff members.  This is also a very good option if you happen to get voicemail or you wish to submit a non-critical item.

We have "self help" information on the Frequently Asked Questions and the Technical Tips & Information pages.  We are working to build these quick reference site for articles on divisional support issues, answers to frequently asked questions and solutions to common problems.

The "Document Archive" is a historical reference with key documents related to the SAITS department, our staff (including organizational charts) and the division's various technical initiatives.
