History of Health Services at Cal Poly Pomona

Health Center building in 1960 before remodel

Student Health Services has had a rich history of various locations on campus. The top photo represents the original Stone House, established as the first Health Center at Cal Poly Pomona, circa 1957, and located somewhere close to the current science buildings.
It was staffed by one nurse and a secretary.

As the population of the campus increased, services expanded and a new facility was built at the existing location in 1960.

In 1975, construction began to expand the building, and the Health Center was temporarily moved into the former stables (Bldg. 26) which is the present day University Plaza.

Once construction was completed in 1976, Student Health Services moved back into the main building occupied today, Bldg. 46.
