Conference Services offers a wide range of student employment and
leadership development opportunities. We are able to provide a diversity
of interactive projects and programs to interest students majoring in
all subjects. The Conference Services department is a part of the
Business Service area of University Housing Services. Additionally, we
work in partnership with the Cal Poly Pomona Foundation Dining Services
to serve both internal and external clientele.

DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
The responsibilties of Conference Services are divided into the
following:
-
To provide on-campus and off-campus clients withthe opportunity to
host summer conference programs by utilizing open space in the
University Housing Services Resident Hall Community.
-
To provide on-campus meeting space and athletic recreational
facilities for group use during the academic off-season (June-August).
-
To provide full service meal plans and catering operations while
exceeding the expectations of the client's dining needs.
Overall, we want to create a living, working and visiting environment
that is inviting and mutually beneficial to Cal Poly Pomona students,
employees and all customers.

Conference Aide
This position is recommended for a
person who enjoys problem solving, accepts change easily and enjoys
working with people.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
The
Conference Aide reports to the Senior Conference Aide and the Senior
Conference Leads and is responsible for guest check ins/check outs,
building turnarounds, Residences Hall and Residential Suites
assignments, and other conference activities.
Additional duties
will include assisting with client interaction, conflict resolution,
team building, and assisting with all duties within the Residence
Halls and Residential Suites.
Hours may be assigned during
weekdays, evenings and weekends. These hours may vary as business
demands.
June 2009 - September 2009: 15-25 hours per week

Benefits
Seasonal employees with Conference Services will
receive the following benefits during the term of employment:
•
Intensive Traning & Development Program in: customer service, guest
relations, hospitality operations, emergency services, dining &
catering operations, facilities management.
• Double occupancy
lodging during the summer term of employment in a residence hall.
(Approximate Value $1450.00 Double)
• Half-off any residential
dining package. You are required to purchase a residential
dining option. (Approximate Value $450.00)
• $8.00 Hourly

Lead Conference Aide
This position is recommended
for a person that enjoys problem solving, accepts change easily, and
enjoys working with people.
Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):
The
Lead Conference Aides reports directly to the Senior Conference Aide
and is responsible for supervising staff during guest check ins/check
outs, conference meals, building turnarounds, and other conference
activities.
The Lead Conference Aide will be expected to
perform many of the same duties that encompass the Conference Aide
position. Additional duties will include assisting with program
management, client interaction, staff programming, conflict
resolution, team building, and assisting with one of four functional
areas: dining and catering services, youth camps, operations, and
guest services.
Hours may be assigned during weekdays, evenings
and weekends. These hours may vary as business demands.
May 2009:
10-15 hours per week
June 2009 - September 2009: 25-30 hours per
week (5-10 of these hours are in the office)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Hours may be assigned during weekdays, evenings and weekends. Hours may
vary as business demands. Typically, the full-time (40 hours per week)
employment period runs from June-August.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
To be eligible for employment, you must meet the following minimum
qualifications according to the University. Please contact Human Resources
or the Career Center for additional information.

You must have and maintain minimum quarterly and cumulative grade
point average of 2.0 or higher to apply and/or remain employed as a
student assistant with the University.
-
You must be currently enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona to apply.
-
You must continue to remain enrolled at Cal Poly Pomona during the
term of employment to remain eligible for employment. Per University
policy, you may take up to one quarter off per academic year and
remain employed as a Bridge Assistant.

If you choose to take classes during the summer, you may not exceed 8
units without the express written consent of the Conference Office. In
addition, applicants choosing to attend classes during the summer are
required to take a minimum of 6.1 units to remain employed by the
University.

You must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
