Housing Green Initiatives
The University Housing Services (UHS) Green Commitment:
- To support Cal Poly Pomona’s Climate Commitment
- Promote sustainable practices in the residential communities and within the UHS department
- Build awareness among residents and staff through the development, creation and implementation of educational programs for residents and staff
- To partner with the campus community in achieving these goals
What is UHS doing?
- Modifying Purchasing Practices
- Purchasing products with recycled content or are recyclable
- Reduction in paper consumption
- Two-sided copying
- Use of discarded, one-sided copies for drafts
- Sharing electronic documents
- Marketing activities
- Use of web and electronic media (reducing print)
- Resident room showroom with sustainable products
- Business Processes
- Online contracting
- Online forms
- Participates in recycling
- Partnering with the John T. Lyles Center for Regenerative Studies to assess the carbon footprint of a resident hall room
