Do I have to be admitted to apply for housing?
If you have applied to Cal Poly Pomona and have received your BroncoName, you will have access to the online License Agreement, which serves as the housing contract. To receive information about the application process, please complete the “Request for Housing Information” form, located on the Housing website (link on left bar). You will be added to our email list and contacted prior to the License Agreement becoming available for the term in which you are interested. Click here to Request Housing Information.
What if I’m not sure that I will attend Cal Poly?
Since applications are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis, it is highly recommended that you apply, even if you have not made your final decision to attend. It is easier to cancel than to apply later and find that there is a waitlist. Full refunds are given up to four weeks (30 days) prior to the beginning of the quarter.
I received an email from Admission stating I was rescinded, what do I do?
If your admission status is rescinded (cancelled), it is your responsibility to cancel your Student Housing License Agreement with the Housing Office. Your Agreement is NOT cancelled automatically if your admission status has been rescinded or if you withdraw. Since students may appeal these decisions, the Housing Office will not move to cancel contracts unless the student has confirmed their status. Please keep in mind that a written notification to cancel must be received in the Housing Office at least 30 days prior to the beginning of the occupancy period (normally the beginning of the quarter).
When are housing applications available?
For the Summer or Fall Quarter, first-time and transfer students will have access to the Student Housing License Agreement (contract) sometime between March and April of the same year. Advance notification of when this online form will become available is sent to all students who request housing information through the online request form. To request this advance information, use the following link: http://dsa.csupomona.edu/uhs/res_hall_info_card.asp. For students that need housing during the rest of the year (Winter or Spring), the online form remains available and requests are processed based on space availability. How do I apply for the Residence Halls?
To apply for Housing, students must have a Bronco ID number. Students who complete the housing request form (see links below) will receive advance information to prepare for this process. Once a student has their Bronco ID number, they will be able to access the Student Housing License Agreement. The process will include: reading and agreeing to the terms and conditions; completing personal information required to process assignments, such as choosing meal plan, room types, payment plans, etc. and following up with an initial payment.

When will I know I have received housing?
Housing assignments are processed on a first-come, first-serve basis, based on the date and time the online License Agreement was submitted. Assignments for the Fall Quarter are processed between June and July. Assignments for all other quarters occur approximately three to four weeks prior to the beginning of that quarter. Confirmations are sent through emails using your Cal Poly Pomona email address, between late July and early August. If you are placed on a waitlist, you will be contacted as soon as assignments are completed.
What is the deadline to apply for housing?
The Housing Office processes License Agreements throughout the year. Due to the large demand for housing in the Fall, we encourage students to submit a License Agreement as soon as they are made available. The demand for housing has increased over the years and a waitlist is possible. It is highly recommended that you complete the online contract as soon as it becomes available. Filling out the “Request for Housing Information” form is the best way to receive advance notice of important processes and deadlines. Link to form: http://dsa.csupomona.edu/uhs/res_hall_info_card.asp
What if I am placed on a waiting list?
Waiting lists are not uncommon after the first run of assignments. Students often apply to more than one campus and cancellations are very common during the summer. The Housing Office will work closely with students on the waitlist, assessing their status and providing updates on a continuous basis.
How does the waiting list work?
After the first run of assignments, a waitlist is compiled with the names of the students that did not receive a space. Students on the waitlist will be given a waitlist position number in the same order as their date and time the License Agreement was submitted online. Students will continue to be on the waitlist until we are able to offer a space or the student withdraws their name from the waitlist. As we receive cancellations, we contact the next person on the waitlist and offer them the space. We will continue to offer spaces as long as cancellations are received in our office.
What are my chances of getting a space if I’m on the waitlist?
It is hard to predict what the waitlist will look like and the number of cancellations we will receive. We continue placing students from the waitlist as long as cancellations are received, even once the quarter has begun. In previous years, we have been able to place a little over 100 students from the fall waitlist; when there has been a fall waitlist. It is common for us to be able to place everyone from winter and spring waitlist. We encourage all to apply as soon as the License Agreement is made available.
If I am waitlisted, will I get a refund?
If we are unable to offer you a space or you withdraw your name from the waitlist, you will receive a full refund.
What if I have a roommate request?
There will be a space provided on the Student Housing License Agreement (contract) to list any preferred roommates. Both you and your requested roommate(s) must list each other (mutual request) on the contract and must include the Bronco ID number of your requested roommate(s). For the best chance of rooming together, you should try to submit your contracts on the same day and close to the same time in order to have similar priority (date and time stamp on your electronic contract submission). All roommate choices should also select similar preferences, such as room types, building preferences, and personal habits, such as study and sleep preferences. These matches are also based on a first-come, first-serve basis and will depend on available spaces.
How are roommates selected?
The Student Housing License Agreement (contract) will have a section on roommate preferences and personal habits. Questions related to your sleep, study and cleanliness habits will help to match others similar to you. Your choices of room type and building preferences will also be used to select your space, based on what is available at the time of your processing. The system processes contracts according to the date and time stamp on your electronic contract, comparing it with other contracts until a match is made.
How many years can I live on-campus?
Currently, there is no limitation on the number of years you can live on-campus. Residents are given an opportunity to re-contract and select their space for the following academic year. The only restriction in place is that the resident must be enrolled in at least 6 units for three quarters out of the four quarters each academic year.
