How many students live on campus?
There are approximately 1800 residents living on campus, through University Housing Services.

How many residents are freshman?
Currently, about half of our housing residents are first year students, with the majority living in the Residence Halls. Approximately 28-30% of admitted first year students live on campus.

What are the different types of housing on campus?
University Housing Services consists of traditional Residence Halls and Suites, all located on campus.  In addition, we offer a unique living environment at the John T. Lyles Center for Regenerative Studies (CRS), which is only open to current or transfer students. For detailed descriptions of each community, please visit the following:

Are tours available?
There are two options for taking a tour of housing facilities. The Visitor and Information Center provides an excellent campus tour that includes a showroom for the Residence Halls. University Housing Services conducts tours on an ad hoc basis, Monday through Friday, between 8am-5pm. Groups may arrange for tours through the Visitor and Information Center or through the Housing Office. To contact University Housing Services:

How safe are the Halls?
The safety of residents is of vital concern to University Housing Services (UHS). While the University is a relatively safe place, crimes do occur on campus. Though UHS and University Police work closely to provide for your safety, we encourage residents to take active responsibility for developing a safe environment in the Residential community. The following link has more information on the Residential safety:

Do I have to be in my room by a certain time?
No, residents may come and go as they please.  We understand that students have jobs, study-groups or other engagements that may require them to have the liberty to come and go as needed.  We do have quiet hours, which is when the noise level must be kept at a minimal to provide a quiet period for studying and sleeping. Quiet hours are enforced by the resident advisor on-duty from 10pm-8am.

Are there different qualifications to live in the Residence Halls versus the Residential Suites or the Center for Regenerative Studies (CRS)?
The Residence Halls are open to all class levels and are predominantly freshman. These dormitory style buildings are well suited for building community and developing friendships.  The Residential Suites and the Center for Regenerative Studies offer a more independent experience, sharing a living space with up to four other residents. The Suites are open to transfer students and current residents. First-time students are assigned to the traditional Residence Halls. Transfer students may request to contract for the Suites or CRS based on space availability. There are no additional requirements to live at CRS, though residents may choose to take classes in Environmental Design or Regenerative Studies.

What are Theme Halls?
Several buildings have themes that reflect the interests of its residents and allows for creating community based on that common interest. Programming and events may evolve around these themes. Some of these buildings, wings or floors require participation, such as the First Year, First Step floor for first time residents, but most do not require participation or interest to live there.  For details on the various theme communities:
