Wireless Network Access

Wireless networking is currently NOT SUPPORTED in the Residence Halls and in the rooms of the Residential Suites as is stated in the Residence Hall Technology Acceptable Use Policy. Section G-17 of this policy specifically states that "Hosting or operating a wireless access point in your unit or common area of your residence. Exception to this may be made by UHS under special circumstances. Prior approval must be obtained before accessing the wireless feature on your computer."

Wireless networking is available in the common areas of the Residential Suites, outside the Vista Cafe and throughout the Center for Regenerative Studies.

Network access points which are open and do not require authenticated passwords are a security threat to the residence hall network and the rest of the campus. If you are hosting network equipment which allows access outside of your residence hall room, other unauthorized users may access the campus network to perform unacceptable or illegal activities. Since the network equipment is connected to the port in your residence hall room, your port will be disabled and you may become involved in the event of an investigation of such inappropriate network access.

To prevent your port from being disabled, please disconnect all wireless networking equipment in your Residence Hall room.

There are areas of campus which allow authenticated wireless access. For more information about wireless access on campus, contact the campus Help Desk at (909) 869-6776 or go the E-help website for information at http://www.csupomona.edu/~ehelp/wireless/ to view connection instructions and a map of the buildings and areas where wireless access is available.
