Poly Pathfinder Job Announcement
Visitor & Information Centers are looking for Poly Pathfinders (tour guides) for the 2008-09 Academic Year. Those applying must like working with people, be friendly, responsible, dependable, enjoy being a Cal Poly Pomona student and want to share their experience with others. Applicants need to have been a Cal Poly Pomona student for one year prior to starting the position in Fall 2008 and be maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 2.4.
Tour guides give two general individual tours a week, one group tour a week, one Saturday tour per quarter and provide tours at special events. Work schedule: 6-12 hours per week, including Thursday/Friday from 9 a.m. to noon, and one Saturday per quarter.
Visitor & Information Centers, which oversees the Visitor Center and Information Center, connects both visitors and members of the campus community to Cal Poly Pomona's unique, student-centered community with thoughtful information, resources and guidance. In addition to information services, the Visitor Center offers campus tours for new and seasoned faculty and staff; job candidates; special university guests; prospective students and their families; elementary, junior high, high school, community college and four-year college students; and conducts tours at a number of Cal Poly Pomona events. During the popular two-hour walking tour, the Poly Pathfinders highlight the location of programs and services, give insight into what it is like to be a Cal Poly Pomona student, and share some of Cal Poly Pomona's unique features.
Please print the application below and return it to the Visitor Center on the 1st Floor of the Bronco Student Center (Bldg. 35) by 5 p.m. on May 16, 2008. It is MANDATORY that applicants attend ONE of the information sessions (May 13, noon to 1 pm in the Bronco Student Center, Visitor Center, May 14, 5 pm to 6 pm in the Bronco Student Center, Orion C or May 15, noon to 1pm in the Bronco Student Center, Andromeda C) AND be present at the selection workshop (May 21, 4:30 pm to 6 pm in the Visitor Center) to be considered for the position.
